Experts of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine participated in a meeting of the joint working group on finalizing the coordinated audit “Implementation of the Right to education for Ukrainian Children in schools of European countries,” which took place on 26–27 March in Warsaw, the Republic of Poland.

Representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Republic of Poland, the Slovak Republic, the Republic of Latvia, and the Czech Republic, as well as the Court of Audit of Hesse (Germany), also took part in the event. Within their national audits, they examined issues related to ensuring Ukrainian children’s right to school education in their respective countries.
During the meeting, participants presented the results of their national audits. In particular, representatives of the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine, Dmytro Antonchuk and Tetiana Hryhorashchenko, presented the results of a compliance audit on ensuring opportunities for Ukrainian children residing in European countries to receive Ukrainian school education.

The audit results showed that the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine generally complied with the governing requirements regulating the subject of the audit. At the same time, the audit identified the absence of proper registering of such children, the lack of a registry of Ukrainian education centers abroad, risks related to the continued provision of Ukrainian school education in a distance-learning format, and the need to expand the capacity of the International Ukrainian School.

During the meeting, the working group began preparing the joint report based on the results of the coordinated audit. In particular, participants discussed the structure of the report, agreed on approaches to formulating joint conclusions and recommendations, and started drafting the text. Preparation of the final version of the joint report is planned to be completed in July 2026.

It should be recalled that the decision to conduct the coordinated audit on ensuring the right to education for Ukrainian children in European countries was adopted in July 2024 by the Supreme Audit Institutions of Ukraine, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Subsequently, the SAIs of Lithuania and the Court of Audit of Hesse (Germany) also joined the initiative. The work is coordinated by the Supreme Audit Institution of Poland.
