For the First Time a Delegation from the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control Visited the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine

On July 22, the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine welcomed a delegation from the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT) for the first time, the body responsible for overseeing the use of the European Union budget funds.

The delegation included Mr. Niklas Herbst, Chair of the European Parliament's Committee on Budgetary Control; Mr. Esteban González Pons, Vice-President of the European Parliament; Mr. Daniel Freund and Mr. Jonas Schöstedt, Members of the Committee; Mr. Maximilian Schröder, Head of the European Parliament Delegation to Ukraine, as well as Ms. Evelin Waldger, Head of the Committee Secretariat and Mr. Lukas Maton, Administrator of the Committee Secretariat .

At the meeting the Accounting Chamber was represented by its Chairwoman Olha Pishchanska, Acting Secretary Vasyl Nevidomyi, and heads of relevant divisions.

The parties discussed key aspects of the Accounting Chamber's activities under current circumstances, its interaction with the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and other state authorities, particularly in the anti-corruption sphere. Olha Pishchanska spoke about the implementation of Accounting Chamber's  updated powers, cooperation with the European Court of Auditors, and audits of international assistance. Vasyl Nevidomyi outlined the results of key audits in priority areas of the Ukraine Facility Plan.

"Ukraine currently needs international support, and your visit is very important to us. We also seek to receive feedback on our cooperation, to understand expectations for our activity, and to learn from your experience of interaction with the European Court of Auditors. I hope this meeting will strengthen our partnership," Olha Pishchanska emphasized at the conclusion of the discussion..

In turn, the representatives of the European Parliament’s Committeeacknowledged Ukraine’s ongoing efforts to maintain the institutional stability of state authorities and reform them, which is particularly important for the field of publicfinancial control.

Members of the European Parliament wished the Ukrainian auditors success in their work and assured of their support for further partnership and dialogue.
