February 22, representatives from the Accounting Chamber, the EU Delegation to Ukraine, and the EU Public Finance Management Support Programme for Ukraine (EU4PFM) discussed the directions for future support, the enhancement of professional training, and other actions to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Accounting Chamber regarding public procurement audits. The meeting was dedicated to the start of the new component of the Project – “Public Procurement”.
Ms. Olha Pishchanska, the Chairwoman of the Accounting Chamber; Mr. Viktor Bohun, Mr. Igor Iaremchuk and Mr. Kyrylo Klymenko, Members of the Accounting Chamber; Mr. Eriks Mezalis, Team Leader of the EU4PFM Public Procurement Component; Ms. Ekaterina Yakovleva, Programme Manager for EU Co-operation Programmes in Public Finance, Financial sector, Co-ordinator of Budget Support Programmes of the EU Delegation to Ukraine and others, took part in the discussion.
Olha Pishchanska expressed gratitude to the EU Delegation to Ukraine for their continuous support in improving the public financial management system. She emphasized the strategic importance of expanding cooperation, particularly in the field of public procurement.
“In our opinion, the support of partners in enhancing the knowledge of our specialists regarding best practices in conducting public procurement audits or the partners’ consultative assistance in developing additional methodological recommendations on this topic could be beneficial,” noted the Chairwoman.
In turn, Eriks Mezalis, the Team Leader of the EU4PFM Procurement Component, spoke about other opportunities of the new component, including training of European approaches to auditing the public procurement system, features of measuring the effectiveness of this system in the EU, etc.
In addition, Ekaterina Yakovleva, the Public Finance Manager of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, noted that the new project component would be developed in consideration of other components that are already cooperating with the Accounting Chamber, notably the component “Strengthening Capacities in External Audit in Line with International Standards” (EU4ACU).
